Some couples know exactly what they want. Mel and Matt were those couples. From the very beginning, they were clear: colorful, bright, vibrant, and true to life. No muted tones, no trendy presets. They wanted their gallery to look exactly like their day felt. Alive and full and completely them. And honestly? That kind of clarity is a gift to work with, and I’m SO excited to tell you more about their Moraine Farm Wedding.
When they first reached out, budget was a real part of the conversation. They had done their research and they knew great photography mattered, but finding someone who could deliver and work within what they had felt like a lot. I put together a custom proposal to meet them where they were, making sure the coverage of their day was exactly right without asking them to compromise on what counted most. As Mel put it, I worked with them to stay within budget while making sure they were 100% happy. That is always the goal.
The Morning — Everett
Firstly, Mel and her family got ready at an Airbnb in Everett before heading up to Beverly. When I walked in that morning, Mel later said it felt like welcoming a friend into the house. That is genuinely one of the best things anyone has ever said to me, and it is exactly the energy I want to bring to a wedding. Present, calm, zero added stress on a day that already has a lot of moving parts.
Moraine Farm — A Garden Estate Wedding in Beverly, MA
This Trustees Property is a gorgeous backdrop to any wedding day. If you have never been to Moraine Farm, let me paint the picture: you turn off a main road in Beverly onto this winding dirt road lined with rhododendrons, and by the time you arrive at the estate overlooking Wenham Lake, you feel like you have stumbled into a hidden garden party that somehow nobody else knows about — even though Boston is only thirty minutes away. The grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The tea house, the Great Lawn, the curved brick patio facing the water. It is one of those venues that does a lot of the heavy lifting just by existing.
August light out there is generous and golden. And with Mel and Matt asking for color, every frame got to be exactly what it was.
The First Look
They had their first look outside by the tea house. If you know the property, you know exactly why. Watching them see each other for the first time that day, in that spot is one of my favorite frames from this wedding, full stop.
The Private First Dance
This is the detail I keep coming back to.
Before the reception opened up to the room, Mel and Matt had their first dance privately. Think just the two of them, no audience, no spotlight. Most couples share that moment with everyone watching. These two kept it for themselves first. I stayed back, gave them space, and let it happen.
The images from those few minutes are some of the most honest I have made all year. They were not performing for anyone. They were just there, with each other, before the rest of the night began. I will never fully recover from it.
The Late Night at Moraine Farm
When the celebration opened up, it went fully. The tent at Moraine Farm at night was a sight. String lights, everyone you love, was summer night magic. Mel and Matt had surrounded themselves with guests who genuinely showed up for them, and it showed in every single frame. The kind of night where nobody wants to leave. 10/10.
A Note About their Boston Wedding Photographer
Mel described the gallery as airy, vibrant, and exactly what they asked for. That is the thing about being clear on your vision from the start. When a couple knows what they want and trusts me to deliver it, the images reflect that. Every time.
If there is one thing worth splurging on for your wedding, make it the photographer. Not because I am biased — okay, maybe a little — but because everything else from the day fades. The photos are what you hold onto.
Planning a Moraine Farm Wedding?
If you are getting married at Moraine Farm and want images that feel vibrant, honest, and completely like you, I would love to be there. That venue deserves a photographer who is going to show up ready for it.
