When it comes to beach engagement photos, there’s just something magical about salty hair, sandy feet, and feeling like the only two people in the world. Rebecca and Kevin’s engagement session at Napatree Point Conservation Area in Westerly, Rhode Island, gave us all of that and more. Add in their adorable bulldog Bruce, a hazy June sunset, and a touch of nostalgic film, and you have a session that I’ll never forget.
Rebecca and Kevin weren’t sure where they wanted to do their engagement session at first, which I totally understand! As part of my photography services, I offer location scouting for all my couples who need some assistance in finding a shoot location that fits their photography vision. Luckily, I’m a little obsessed with the natural beauty of Rhode Island beaches and offered to scout locations that would feel romantic, effortless, and truly “them.”
We landed on Napatree Point Conservation Area, near Watch Hill, RI. It’s easily accessible but feels secluded and untouched. The wide shoreline, and grassy dunes make it one of my favorites for beach engagement photos in New England.
From the moment Rebecca and Kevin stepped onto the beach, everything just clicked. Their outfit choices were spot-on: neutral, breezy, and timeless—perfect for the coastal setting. And Bruce? He was the best third wheel we could’ve asked for. He trotted through the waves, posed like a pro, and made us laugh between every frame.
We spent the evening walking along the sand, taking moments to pause in beautiful locations for stunning portraits. As always, we let the sunset light guide our session. These kinds of relaxed, movement-driven portraits are my favorite. I love sessions when you’re just in a groove, and the photos show exactly how it felt.
While many photos are digital, I always love weaving in film for that extra layer of warmth and emotion. There’s a softness to film that can’t be replicated. The grain, the tones, the imperfection—it’s what makes the memories feel like memories. Rebecca and Kevin’s gallery included both digital and film images. Soon, I’ll be offering Super 8 films as well for couples who want motion woven into their storytelling. Totally swoon-worthy!
Whether you’re getting married or just want to celebrate your love, I offer engagement and couples sessions outside of wedding packages. If you’re a nostalgic soul who wants images that feel effortless and honest, let’s create something beautiful together. I shoot digital, film, and (soon Super 8!). Plus, I’m always down to travel to the beach (especially if it involves your pup).
If you’re dreaming of beach engagement photos that are full of emotion, sunshine, and a little salt in your hair, let’s chat.
