There is truly nothing better than fall in Boston, and Dorothy and Thom’s UMass Club wedding was the perfect example of why. With crisp air, warm sunshine, and that unmistakable October glow, the city showed up in the best way possible. Because of this, every moment of the day felt calm, cozy, and incredibly special.

Although Dorothy and Thom now live in Minneapolis, Boston is where they first met. So, returning here to get married felt especially meaningful. From the start, their day felt like a full circle moment, one rooted in nostalgia and connection.

A Meaningful Ceremony in Cambridge

The day began with a beautiful church ceremony in Cambridge. Here, the focus was entirely on the meaning of the moment. The quiet emotion, the intentional pauses, personal vows, and so much love for the bride and groom filled the space.

After the ceremony, guests made their way into downtown Boston to continue the celebration. From there, the energy shifted as the guests were ready to party!

Fall Portraits in the Boston Public Garden

Before heading to the reception, we stopped at the Boston Public Garden for bride and groom portraits. This stop felt like a must, especially on a day like this. With peak fall foliage and soft, golden light, the Garden gave us a timeless Boston backdrop.

As a result, the portraits felt relaxed, romantic, and effortless. More importantly, they felt true to Dorothy and Thom, which is always the goal.

A Breathtaking UMass Club Wedding Reception

Once inside the UMass Club wedding reception, the views immediately took center stage. Large windows opened up to sweeping views of the entire Boston skyline. In addition, the timing could not have been better. As the night went on, a stunning sunset washed over the city, creating a glow that felt almost unreal.

Because of this, the reception space felt elevated yet intimate, offering guests (and myself!) a chance to experience Boston from a completely new perspective.

A Creative and Unforgettable Entrance

One of the most memorable moments of the night came early in the reception. Instead of a traditional walk in, Thom surprised everyone with one of the most creative wedding entrance videos I have ever seen. Not only was it incredibly well done, but it was also thoughtful, funny, and completely unexpected.

As a result, the room was instantly buzzing with excitement, setting the tone for an unforgettable night ahead.

Decor with Meaning and Heritage

In addition to the views and the energy, the reception decor was absolutely beautiful and personal. Asian influenced elements were woven throughout the space to honor Dorothy’s heritage. Each detail felt intentional, layered, and deeply personal.

Because of this, the room felt warm and inviting while still being elegant and elevated.

A UMASS Club Wedding Celebration Rooted in Place and Legacy

Ultimately, Dorothy and Thom’s UMass Club wedding was about more than just a beautiful venue or a perfect fall day. It was about returning to where their story began and celebrating it in a way that felt authentic to who they are now. Not to mention they were able to plan their whole wedding in 6 months! Incredible!

From Cambridge to the Public Garden to the skyline views over downtown Boston, their wedding day felt like a love letter to the city and to the life they are building together.
